Richardson Day of Caring.Day of Caring enables local businesses to provide volunteers and funding to help nonprofits, schools, and other tax-exempt organizations complete needed projects and activities they might not otherwise have the time or resources to pursue.VACU team members worked on various projects at the school, including creating take-home and school-use literacy kits for students and maintaining the school's garden beds and nature trail. As a gold sponsor, VACU also provided $5,000 in financial support for United Way's Day of Caring."We're proud to be a corporate sponsor for the Day of Caring and to volunteer our time to help address the challenges facing our friends and neighbors. So many nonprofits, community organizations, and schools could use a helping hand with service projects and maintenance needs," says VACU President/CEO Chris Shockley. "At Virginia Credit Union, our year-round community volunteer program is always seeking opportunities to help these organizations meet their needs so they, in turn, can better serve our communities."VACU Senior Vice President of Financial Education Cherry Dale notes that the credit union has many existing partnerships with local schools and colleges that foster a positive learning environment for students or help them further their education. Programs include financial education, school supply drives, career exploration opportunities, and college scholarships."It's exciting to support Agnor Elementary by helping create spaces and resources that contribute to the success of students and teachers," says Dale. "We value deeply the opportunity to aid local schools because helping our schools strengthens our communities and creates opportunities for students and their families to reach their full potential."Learn more about the United Way of Greater Charlottesville's Day of Caring here."Day of Caring is about leadership, civic responsibility, and giving back through volunteerism," says United Way of Greater Charlottesville President/CEO Ravi Respeto.
