As part of our commitment to the wellbeing of our communities, Virginia Credit Union is a proud participant and sponsor of the United Way of Greater Charlottesville’s Day of Caring. Set for Sept. 18, the Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring enables local businesses to provide volunteers and funding to help nonprofits, schools, and other tax-exempt organizations complete needed projects and activities.Projects might range from undertaking repairs and general maintenance work at nonprofit facilities to performing yard work for seniors to reading to children.“So many of the organizations and nonprofits that serve the most vulnerable members of our community need our help,” says Virginia Credit Union President/CEO Chris Shockley. “Day of Caring is a wonderful way for us to raise awareness for the causes and organizations serving our communities that need a helping hand of their own. Each of us has something to contribute and give, and Day of Caring showcases the many opportunities we have in our own backyard to make a difference – not only on the Day of Caring, but every day.”In addition to a $5,000 donation to the United Way, VACU will supply a team of volunteers to assist a local nonprofit and an area school on Sept. 18.“Day of Caring is about leadership, civic responsibility, and giving back through volunteerism,” says United Way of Greater Charlottesville President/CEO Ravi Respeto. “We couldn’t do it without our sponsors and volunteer teams, and we are so grateful to Virginia Credit Union for their support and participation.”Learn more about the United Way of Greater Charlottesville’s Day of Caring, including volunteer opportunities, here: https://unitedwaycville.org/uw-events/day-of-caring/A financial cooperative serving almost 500,000 members, Virginia Credit Union and its Member One Division offer a variety of affordable banking services, loans, mortgages, and free financial education resources, with a focus on helping people be more confident with their finances.
