Text AlertsEnroll to receive and respond to credit card security alerts by text message. Just log in to online banking, select your credit card account. Then go to “Get More Credit Card Information” to get more details and enroll under the "Communications" tab.FAQsWhat are Credit Card Security Text Alerts used for?Virginia Credit Union monitors card activity to identify transactions that may be fraudulent. Credit Card Security Text Alerts are one way for us to notify you of any suspicious transactions.How do the text messages work?A text message will be sent to your mobile device when there are any suspicious transactions on your card.Reply to confirm whether or not you recognize the transactions.If you do not recognize the transactions, you will receive a text message asking you to call Fraud Detection at 1-888-918-7313. A block will be placed on the card immediately to protect you from further fraudulent activity. The block will remain in place until we hear from you.If you reply that you recognize the transactions, your card will remain available for use.How do I register for Credit Card Security Text Alerts?Log in to Online Banking, select your credit card account, then go to “Get More Credit Card Information” to enroll under the "Communications" tab. You will be asked to provide your mobile number and the credit card number you wish to register.Can I register my debit card for Security Text Alerts?No, at this time Security Text Alerts are only available for VACU Credit Cards.How do I change the mobile number I have registered?To change the mobile number listed, you will need to re-register the account with the new phone number.Can I receive text message alerts when traveling outside the US?Yes, to receive Card Security Fraud Alerts in a foreign country you will need the following:A U.S. phone number.A carrier that supports foreign text message delivery.To be in a country that is part of the Global System for Mobile Network.Are Card Security Text Alerts safe and secure?Yes. Our first priority is to protect your personal information. We will never ask for your account number, personal identification, or other personal information by text. If you ever receive a text message asking for this information, please do not respond.If you have any concerns regarding the legitimacy of a text received concerning your Virginia Credit Union credit card, please call us at 1-800-285-6609.What if I receive a “change” confirmation alert when I did not make an update to my account?If you received a “change” alert for an update that you did not make to your account, and no one else is authorized to make changes to your account, please contact us at 1-800-285-6609.Do I need to re-register for Credit Card Security Text Alerts if my Virginia Credit Union credit card is lost or stolen?Yes, if your Virginia Credit Union credit card is lost or stolen and a replacement is issued, you will need to re-register the new account number to continue receiving text messages.Are there any fees associated with this service?Virginia Credit Union does not charge any fees for Credit Card Security Text Alerts, however standard text message and data rates assessed by your mobile carrier may apply. Please check with your mobile carrier to ensure that you have 'text messaging' on your mobile phone plan, and that you are aware of the costs your carrier will charge you if you utilize it.How do I unsubscribe from Card Security Text Alerts?To unsubscribe from Card Security Text Alerts, text STOP to 72488. You will then receive an opt-out confirmation.
